To say that Apple is an industry leader would be a gross underestimation. What started out as 2 kids working in a garage with $1,300 capital has grown to a net worth of over $710 billion. In fact, you would be hard-pressed to find someone on the planet that does not know of the globally recognized brand. We recently found this gem of an Apple promotional video, circa the company’s early days. Take a walk down memory lane as you explore the beginnings of the organisation through commentary from Steve Jobs himself.
Steve Jobs wanted a computer his entire life, so the obvious answer was to design a readily available model, easily assembled within hours of purchase. Thus, the original Apple 1 was born. The first of its kind: an entire computer assembled on a single motherboard. However, this was just the beginning.
Upon completion of the Apple 1, Steve Jobs began to wonder. How could he add colour? How could he optimize the design and lower the cost? How could they provide a preassembled option? Most importantly, could he build this computer to fit inside a plastic case? Through a combination of innovation and determination, the Apple 2 was born.
We invite you to take a look at this retro Apple video found on the web and explore the inter-workings of the Apple 1 and Apple 2, as well as the creation of the company. After you’ve watched, we’d love to hear your thoughts. “Bringing the rainbow to you, Apple 2 forever!”
