What in the world is Green Monday?

We are all familiar with Black Friday and Cyber Monday but what he heck is Green Monday? Well, it’s yet another “amazing” shopping day that falls between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Most recently was Green Monday, which now takes place on the second Monday in December. In fact, Green Monday has become the third largest day of online shopping, falling only behind Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

While the origins of the name for this shopping day remain unclear, many speculate its named after the color of the American dollar. This shopping holiday began in 2007 with eBay, and has since gone viral. Many retailers have renamed the day Cyber Monday 2.

So where can you shop Green Monday? Well this year, Ebay, Amazon and many smaller online retailers have joined the bandwagon. While its unlikely that we will see the same slashed prices that we see on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Green Monday offers consumers and last minute shoppers one last chance to snag a great deal before the holidays.

While the future of Green Monday remains unclear, I think it’s a safe to assume that next year other online retailers will be offering their version of “amazing discounts,” on the second Monday in December.  Tis the season to buy and purchase, and with all of these deals how can we resist?
