The smartphone with a 10-day battery

Are you tired of your smartphone battery running on empty? Are you sick of having to carry an enormous USB backup battery around? Well, if Oukitel has their way, your phone will have the battery life you have been craving, keeping you online for days on end.

Oukitel’s upcoming K10000 smartphone packs a whopping 10,000mAh battery that reportedly lasts for 10 to 15 days per charge (under “normal” use). If these claims are legitimate, you could go on an extended week holiday without ever needing to recharge your battery! You would be back in time to upload your vacation photos before plugging back in. Not to mention, you could use any leftover juice to top off your other devices that may be running low on fuel.

What’s the catch?

I mean, there has to be a catch, right? As with all things, if they sound too good to be true then they probably are. While the K10000 packs a powerful punch in the battery department, the rest of the phone specs are very modest. We’re talking a quad-core 1GHz MediaTek processor, 720p (if 5.5-inch) screen, 8-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front cam and 16GB of expandable storage.  Perhaps it's best to think of this gadget as a great battery with a tiny smartphone attached. So don't be surprised if the 3G and LTE don't work in every remote corner of the globe. Even so, with the enticing $240 pre-order price, set to ship on January 21st, it’s hard to resist that battery appeal!
